Geotechnical laboratory tests
Laboratory tests complement in-situ tests: they finely characterize the soil sampled in boreholes according to standardized protocols. Three main families are distinguished: identification tests (grain size, Atterberg, methylene blue, water content), mechanical tests (oedometer, triaxial, shear, compression) and hydraulic and specific tests (permeability, Proctor/CBR, swelling).
